Regency-Era Gown Rotation
One of my main projects for my fellowship at the Philadelphia Art Museum (formerly PMA) was to create a rotation of a Regency-era gown (1795-1825) for a platform in the permanent Early American Galleries.
This project was presented and published during the 2025 NATCC Banff Confrence
After a survey of the Regency era dresses in the collection, conservators met with curators and choose a 5 year rotation consisting of 10 gowns. The gowns with the green and yellow dots were the gowns either previously exhibited on the platform or chosen for the rotation.
My job was to treat and mount the gowns for display. I was able to complete 6 of the 10 treatments during my fellowship, which are detailed below.
